Here is some CPPE information on the EHC e-learning module.

We’ve updated our EHC e-learning programme in line with new guidance

In March, the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare launched new guidance on emergency contraception. We have updated our Emergency contraception e-learning programme to ensure it fits with this guidance and gives you the most up-to-date information.

If you are involved in advising or caring for women who may need emergency contraception, we recommend that you take this opportunity to update your learning.

Key changes include:

  • use of copper intrauterine devices (Cu-IUD) for emergency contraception
  • ulipristal acetate (ellaOne®) now classed as a first-line oral emergency contraceptive
  • guidance relating to emergency contraception and the earliest date of ovulation
  • updated figures from the Office of National Statistics.

The e-learning programme is broken down into two sections. Section 1 explains the background to the development of emergency contraception and its emergence as a pharmacy service. Section 2 focuses on the different stages of the consultation, from starting the conversation through to offering further advice after supplying emergency contraception.

Access the Emergency contraception e-learning programme.
